Weekly exercise sessions with a personal trainer qualified in exercise for people with diabetes. The sessions cover cardio and weight training and are delivered in a private, safe and welcoming environment to encourage participation by people who would otherwise not have confidence to undertake exercise. Sessions are free and open to everyone with diabetes in West Lothian.
There is a mandatory fitness assessment to ensure eligibility and to enable sessions to be tailored to individual needs and capabilities. Providing specialist knowledge on diabetes alongside professional training knowledge, the project offers a safe exercise environment with the opportunity to interact with other people with diabetes and learn the basics of exercising with diabetes and so feel confident in undertaking exercise outside the project.
