To provide a two year therapeutic creative arts programme for homeless and vulnerable people in and around Leith intended to improve their mental and physical well-being. This activity will build on pilot work carried out over the past two years and will include the establishment of a theatre company for homeless and vulnerable people, the development of a homeless men’s choir and creative writing and publishing workshops. Increasingly we are finding that the people who come to us are facing ever greater challenges such as higher levels of poor mental health, poverty, low self-esteem, addictions and isolation. Increasingly they are people who other agencies have been unable to help. Creative activity has proved to be an effective way for Bethany to engage with some of the most vulnerable and isolated members of the community, helpping them reflect on and move on in their lives.
