As we approach the summer months many of the events and activities that we were looking forward to have been cancelled or postponed. However, now that time to exercise during lockdown has recently been increased, why not use this as an opportunity to try out new activities or increase your stamina and raise money for NHS Lothian at the same time? Your support will make a difference to the lives of staff and patients across Edinburgh and the Lothians during and in the aftermath of Coronavirus.
So what are you waiting for? Here are a few fundraising ideas for you to consider.
Set yourself a goal which challenges you. If you are new to cycling you could ask people to sponsor you to cover 10 miles or if you are more experienced why not set yourself a 50-mile challenge?
Or if you really want a challenge, then you could consider doing your own Tour de France, covering 2,200 miles over 23 days.
Get your running shoes on and raise money by completing a 5K, 10K or a marathon. Decide on a route near your home and go!
Not sure where to start? Why not follow this couch to 5K programme
Why not set yourself a challenge to walk 10,000 steps a day for 30 days and you’ll have covered 300,000 steps over the month of June?
Involve family members in your or other different households (exercising separately and taking into account the latest guidance on social distancing) to compete against each other to see how many steps each person can cover throughout the month of June and make a donation to support our NHS.
Did you know you can track your steps using Strava when you set up a JustGiving page? Whatever your walking challenge distance you can track your steps using Strava when you set up your JustGiving page.
Or have a look at World Walking for something a little bit different.
