Volunteer Hub – Royal Edinburgh Hospital

Organisation : Volunteer Centre Edinburgh
Grant Amount : £ 97,116
Project Dates : April 2015 to March 2016

Volunteer engagement will be significantly developed in the REH, adding value to NHS services. The health, wellbeing and social capital of patients and the wider community will benefit.

The project will

  1. Continue to inspire, encourage & support “Patient Volunteers” (in-patients with severe/enduring mental illness) to be “contributors to society” by engaging in voluntary work (both in the hospital & the wider community)
  2. Significantly increase the engagement of “Public Volunteers” (members of the general public) to enhance and improve the environment and experiences of REH patients.  Activity will particularly focus on increasing volunteer involvement in Care of the Elderly wards. This will build on successful piloting of volunteer engagement in this area over the past year.
