The Hive Community Links Project established in 2009 aims to improve patients & carers experience of individuals accessing the Royal Edinburgh Hospital’s acute psychiatric & mental health services including learning disabilities & dementia.
2 project workers ‘Community Link Workers’ support individuals in the smooth transition from leaving hospital & returning to community life.
Individuals are supported to develop & self-sustain a positive & fulfilling routine/social network.
Workers also engage with stakeholders [residents, public, private & third sector organisations] to raise awareness, understanding & deliver MH awareness training.
Community capacity building achieved through the creation of networks & partnerships leads to shared values, increased activities/community connections, improved relationships, joined up working, efficiencies & healthier & inclusive communities.
