Normality in the labour ward, bringing low risk environments to high risk women enhancing their experience.

Organisation : NHS Lothian, Labour Ward, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh
Grant Amount : £ 2,000

Promoting low risk environment on the high risk labour ward. It is researched that normalising womens care effects their outcomes and reduces interventions, enhancing their experience and patient journey. I would like to:
Improve the patient / carer experience
Help transform the healthcare system
I would like to buy reclining chairs, lamps for each room, battery operated candles for each room, underwater mood lights, CD players and relaxation CDs, another telemetry CTG to optimise patient experience so that able to mobilise and use pool.
I would also like to buy x 2 medela breast pumps as labour ward has none and from the recent conference on breast feeding preterm babies it showed that early expressing effects long term amounts of breastmilk and outcomes for reterm neonates.
I would then document and audit the results of a more comfortable and relaxed homely environment.
