The project is to further develop the NHS Lothian Community Gardens initiative. The gardens benefit their local communities as well as hospital patients and staff. They have a particular focus on providing supported volunteering opportunities for people facing health inequalities. The project will manage the existing gardens at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital and Midlothian Community Hospital. It will focus on developing a new Community Garden at St. John’s Hospital and creating training opportunities for disadvantaged young people. Over the next year thousands of community members, hospital patients and local schoolchildren will benefit from their local hospital Community Garden.
