Haemophilia Get Active Video

Organisation : NHS Lothian, Physiotherapy Department, Royal Hospital for Sick Children
Grant Amount : £ 500

To produce a short film aimed at teenagers with haemophilia to educate them on the benefits of physical activity. This patient group can be challenging to engage with and educate on healthy lifestyle choices, therefore communication through multi-media has the potential to minimise joint/muscle bleeds and enhance their quality of life.

The film will be available online and on DVD to ensure the message reaches patients locally, regionally and nationally. As patients adopt physical activity the resource has potential to save the NHS money as Factor treatment is costly. The film will feature a teenager with haemophilia who has experienced the benefits of physical activity firsthand. It will provide advice on suitable activities and how to exercise safely.

The Haemophilia Lead Clinician, Nurse and Physiotherapist will also feature to ensure the message is supported by the wider team.
