Engaging Patients in Understanding and Improving the Critical Illness Journey

Organisation : University of Edinburgh
Grant Amount : £ 31,307

Patients recovering after critical illness suffer many physical and psychological problems and have unmet needs during an often protracted recovery in both acute and community settings. We will work with former patients to: identify what they need during and after acute hospital care; make recommendations for improved practice; develop patient-focussed measures sensitive to their experiences and needs; and develop a website to provide information and support during recovery. We will undertake research with patients and families to evaluate the impact of our novel resources and further refine them to maximise patient recovery and satisfaction.
