Dual Antiplatelet Therapy to Inhibit Myocardial Injury (DIAMOND Study)

Organisation : University of Edinburgh
Grant Amount : £ 41,979
Project Dates : August 2015 to July 2016

This a randomised, placebo controlled trial co-sponsored by the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian. The studies is targeted at patients with known coronary artery disease.

We intend to use a new technique (positron emission tomography) for taking pictures of the coronary arteries to identify patients within this population that may be at particularly high risk of heart attacks.

We then will test whether a recently introduced blood thinning medication can reduce the chance of these type of events over a period of 1 year.
