Audio Visual System located in the Waiting room to enhance our ability to promote wellbeing, Patient education and improve social capital

Organisation : Niddrie Medical Practice
Grant Amount : £ 1,000
Project Dates : December 2016 to May 2017

As a practice in a highly deprived area many patients have communication difficulties. A TV screen in our waiting room would be an excellent medium to communicate as it will allow us to convey health information in pictorial ways and in a variety of languages.

We plan to use information screen software to display health promotion videos interspersed with personal messages about practice services and publicise the research we are involved in. We plan to ensure greater utilisation of our excellent website and would display a video demonstrating how patients can book appointments and order prescriptions online.

We would also invite 3rd sector organisations to display their information. We hope to use the TV to run a carer and patient education course on the use of naloxone. We hope to see increased website use, increased enrolment in research and engagement in education.
