A pilot study of the Introduction of Peer Support workers to a Medium Secure Unit to determine the potential of this resource in care and treatment

Peer Support workers are in paid roles offering support to others with mental health problems using their experience of illness and recovery. The role though new has been recognised as having not only influenced services but as having helped to directly promote and support patient recovery The Orchard Clinic would be the first Scottish forensic service to introduce this innovative resource. A triangulation of approaches will be made to measure its effectiveness over the two years of its implementation.
