Incredible quilting skills of the service users of the Spittal Street Centre
Here Vanessa, the Centre’s Service User Involvment Coordinator tells us a little about the project;
“During the holiday period of Christmas and New Years, it can be a difficult time for many people. That is why Spittal Street Centre opens its doors to those who have an addiction to seek a safe, warm and friendly place.
We had several activities available for those who attended, one of which was making a Recovery Focused Quilt. Clients, peer volunteers and staff all enjoyed making an outline of their hand and personalising the hand with decorations. The theme of the quilt is ‘Hands Up For Recovery’ and it is currently hanging in the waiting room at Spittal Street Centre. Close-ups of some of the individual tiles show a message of LIFE and GROW. Several of the tiles in the quilt had a theme of life, love and hope which are all important when in the journey of recovery.”
